It's the Silvertone/Red Cupcake Caddy from Target.


I am ocassionally one of those people who brings baked goods to share with people at work. Carrying anything on the subway is a pain in itself, but traveling with cupcakes is really hard. Because, you know, who wants smooshed frosting? You can't stack them!

Separation anxiety

That's the number of pictures I had saved on my computer, going back to freshman year of college. Sadly, my laptop is more than five years old and I'm pretty sure it's about to hit the crapper soon. It's at the point where the "You are running low on disc space on drive C" warning pops up approximately every 15 minutes, and it's been doing that for like two years.

So I know my pictures are, well, in peril. (Peril!)

That's why I have a fancy, high-capacity external hard drive where I have them all backed up. But even though they're backed up, I still can't bring myself to delete the files from my computer. I just am distrustful of the external hard drive because I'm not 100% familiar with the way it works and how it works to restore things once they've been backed up.

But yesterday I finally did it. I backed up all 4,378 photo files again and then I started deleting them from the computer. And now my laptop is running much faster, which is really nice. So I'm learning to trust little external hard drive and not imagine it being lost in a fire or a flood or me spilling something on it or stepping on it and breaking it or someone stealing it.

EW, where are the predictions?

I've subscribed to Entertainment Weekly on and off for more than five years, and I always look forward to their Oscar preview issue. This year though, Oscar wasn't even on the cover (Barack was though, so it's aight) and there were no predictions! And no odds on each nominee in the main categories, either. The closest they came was calling Slumdog Millionaire the "frontrunner." Not good enough for me, EW.

Nominated movies I still want to see:

Revolutionary Road (just finished the novel)
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Doubt

Of the main films this year, so far I've only seen Slumdog and Rachel Getting Married, which were both fantastic.

If only the last trip to the movies hadn't been wasted on stupid Seven Pounds. I tell ya.

Up for tomorrow night are Wall-E (Best Animated Feature nominee) and Vicky Cristina Barcelona (Penelope Cruz is nominated for a Best Supporting Actress award). VCB is written and directed by Woody Allen, so it's risky in that it could go either in the Match Point (yay) or Scoop (boo).
