Fail

Do you have that thing where once you start a book, you can't not finish it? Even when I read The Bell Jar in high school and was totally too young to understand what the crap was going on, I still read the whole thing.

It still kind of pains me to give up on a book. It feels like I'm getting an "incomplete" on my report card. But these days there are just too many books on my to-read list to waste time on something if I've lost the thread, or I can't keep the characters straight, or if I basically just fall out of the book--so I do just stop.

The Golden Notebook and The Savage Detectives are both behemoths, and I made it a good chunk of the way into both of them before giving up. I wanted to like them, but I gave myself permission to stick them back on the shelf.

I get to Americanize! Bye bye to kerbs, double Ls, and "ou"s.

Attention Everyone!

Aaron Carter is going to be on Dancing with the Stars. I just don't know what other announcement could put that kind of smirk on my face on a Monday afternoon. Some of you who know me might know that one of my first forays into the Interwebs back in the day was a snarky (for a fourteen-year-old) webpage in which I made fun of Aaron Carter (and got hate mail for about!), so something about the potential awesome trainwreck quality of all of this earns a special place in my heart.

(Also: Melissa Joan Hart and Mya! This may be the first time I ever tune in to this show.)

Inspiration...

...to tall girls everywhere:

It's Cat Deeley from So You Think You Can Dance, and she is all kinds of bubbly awesome in her minis and four-inch heels all the time. And not scared to stand next to tiny dancers who barely reach her shoulder.

Yikes.

My toenails are about to be this color! (It's Flirty Fuschia, if you want to know.)

Also, my writing has been interrupted by my lack of a functioning computer who is actually able to connect to the internet, and will be until I sock away enough money for one of these:
